+ one part gin
+ one part sweet
vermouth
+ one part bitters, traditionally campari
it is considered
an apéritif.
i can't remember how or where i first heard about this drink, but i've fallen in love with negronis. there are many components of the drink that i like : its bright red color; the bitter, unusual and acquired taste of it; the fact that it includes campari, which immediately has me daydreaming that i live in europe and ride around on a bright red vespa, eating pasta all day and never getting fat.
(isn't this everyone's fantasy?)
(isn't this everyone's fantasy?)
whatever the reason, i've deemed it my favorite drink for the moment*. i like to drink it slowly, over the course of a few hours. it reminds me of the first time i tried black coffee. the taste is really strong and almost turns you off the first time you try it. but then after a while, you get used to it.
it's also helping me get through what's left of winter.

*even now, as i write this, i've run out of the stuff and have since moved over to white russians. a classic, no?
