last friday, we threw a surprise party for kasi's birthday (we=his parents, good friend alex and i). i was bursting at the seams all week with excitement and anxiety (ps - when did i become so anxious?).
anyway, it was a huge hit, and kasi was SO surprised (and even a little disappointed that the thai food we promised him for dinner on friday wasn't actually going to happen;)
here is what i wore:
friday night : surprise party
what i actually wore (different from the above set): this adorable (and very flattering) what i've been calling my "tuxedo dress" from south moon; black pointy-toe flats, nine west; oversized blazer, target; vintage jewelry from my grandmother, including diamond studs and a silver cuff; red crossbody bag, f21; black tights, target
saturday night : out to dinner
what i actually wore (different from the above set): navy + black short sleeve dress, target; leather jacket, target; black pointy-toe flats, nine west; feather earrings, target; jewelry, vintage; red crossbody bag, f21; black tights, target
this second outfit would have been better suited for the latter part of saturday night - the hookah bar we found in dupont that played house music and actually served alcohol. these outfits should have definitely been swapped and i should have worn saturday night's dress on friday and friday night's dress on saturday. the b&w lady dress was way more appropriate for the swanky restaurant (also known as the most delicious indian food i've ever had) kasi picked for his birthday dinner, and the short sleeve dress would have been better matched with the casual surprise house party.
just another lesson in outfit planning, i suppose.
please excuse my terrible iphone pictures. i was in a rush.
