yesterday, i got mad at the apartment. i mean i got really mad, threw a pan across the stove and screamed. i yelled* about all of the things that were pissing me off as of late -- the incredibly loud and shaky furnace that makes two really annoying noises (a bell constantly ringing and an animal trying to break through the wall -- suffice it to say, we got very little sleep on saturday night); and a stove/kitchen that makes the entire apartment fill up with smoke anytime i try to cook something (this happened sunday morning whilst attempting to make blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon).
the pancakes didn't happen (i gave up half-way through), and we locked the apartment up tight and kept the heat off. is this how the next six months are going to be? having to live with this unmanagable furnace tormenting us non-stop? and! we discovered, it seems to be just our furnace making all of the ruckus. meaning, the other three apartments in our building have a whisper of a furnace when their heat is on.
i'm not surprised that our maintance men didn't tell us about this before we moved in last may. they've already made it clear that our darling apartment is usually difficult to rent. the only concern last spring were the two AC units and if they would withstand a DC (scorching) summer. they're reply then was, "if you don't like them, buy yourself new ones."
it's so bittersweet to get mad and admit there are things we don't like about this apartment. mostly because, i really love this apartment. but i do have to realize (as it being our first apartment), we chose this apartment because of the location, neighborhood, price-range, availability, and most of all, because of it's charm. we didn't care about the grunginess; in fact, we loved it's character and the fact that it was ground-floor and not a basement aparmtent (more light).
scenes from kasi's birthday weekend coming soon. happy monday!

*poor kas took this as i was mad at him (it's an easy assumption to make with me, especially when i get heated about something and even more so when it's that time of the month).
**if you read through this post, then you've already noticed that there is another missing music monday. i figured i wouldn't force that one for this week, considering forced posts aren't fun (see last week's). i'm also not even kidding when i say that i've been listening to f+tm's ceremonials all weekend long and nothing else.
***image: after my fight with the apartment, i decided to clean clean clean and re-organize. here is the end result of one of the walls in our bedroom. i finally hung up our cheaper solution to a gallery wall (a box of 12 bulldog clips on amazon are only $4.99! can't beat that, even with cheap frames from ac moore).
****the title of this post reflects how i feel today, post-apartment-argument.
