there are so many things that i love about fall, it's almost hard to keep track.
the warmer, burnt orange colors; those cognac brown boots i have and want to wear everyday; cooking a warm dinner with the windows open, as a cool breeze blows through; my abundance of scarves; the transition from white wine to red wine; tea before bed; furry slippers and cozy blankets.
when i see tulips as striking as these, it's hard not to immediately scoop them up and take them home with me. which is exactly what i did yesterday. this weekend is going to be an emotional one, so i've decided to keep things simple this week. these flowers have made me feel a bit nostalgic while spoiling me just the right amount at the same time. and the dinner i cooked last night was the perfect way to "reset our clocks" after eating a little too much fried food this weekend. lemon just makes everything taste better, doesn't it?
for dinner i made:
- roasted skinless + boneless chicken breast [cooked at 350* for 35 minutes], with 1/2 a lemon's worth of juice, rosemary, salt + pepper, that went atop
- a salad of arugala and spinach drizzled with olive oil + vinegar [+ more lemon juice], garbanzo beans, corn, avocado, sugar snap peas,
- and roasted asparagus on the side.
i don't care if this dish belongs in summer. it's just about perfect anytime.

yes this looks totally Summery, but also a perfect balancing meal, as you said.
ReplyDeletetulips are my faves, don't blame you for taking them home.
funny you mentioned nostalgia....
