brunchin' in boston

16 August 2011

this past weekend i flew up to boston.  a city i haven't been to many times, despite the fact that i did go to umass {amherst}.  it was an indulgent weekend to say the least; i certainly did not hold myself back when it came to mimosas, bloody mary's, brunch choices, and overall just food in general {we ordered wingz for dinner one night, naturally}.  it was a mini-vacay paired with an epic reunion -- and even a little bit of a celebration i felt.  and i pulled out all the stops.

as i'm getting older, brunch is becoming more of a staple in my usual weekend routine, whether it's cooking a yummy brunch together in our apartment or going out and getting something really delicious and decadent elsewhere.  {i've also been on a bloody mary kick lately, which does exactly what it was made to do as far as being "the hair of the dog" cure for the night before.}

two amazing brunches in boston:

saturday morning spent at russell house tavern in harvard square, where i enjoyed an amazing E.B.L.T on a croissant {both messy and mouth-watering}, and sunday morning spent listening to jazz at ryles in inman square, also in cambridge.  i ordered a ridiculous breakfast of parisian french toast filled with brie and fig preserves {it tasted just as crazy as it sounds}, and both a mimosa and a bloody mary.

it's safe to say that during this week before the beach, i'll be doing a much needed, unofficial detox and raw foods flush.
