what we thought wasn't much {or any} real damage when we woke up on sunday morning immediately changed when we walked just down the street to our corner and peeked around the block. a massive tree fell straight down and not only completely crushed on car, but managed to land on several cars one the other side of the street, too.
i don't think i've ever seen a tree flatten a car like that. constitution and 5th ne quickly became a tourist trap for the remainder of the gorgeous afternoon {what is it about the day after a storm being nearly perfect?} little kids climbing all over the tree; people snapping photos from within the fallen tree. it was pretty incredible. by the end of the day the tree had been chopped up and moved along, but the cars are still there, bruised and battered today.
after our morning walk on sunday, my best girlfriends holly and claire came over. they brought us lunch and we gabbed about the last week of summer, before watching inception. they're both moving to completely different places this weekend, leaving on the same day, and will be gone for the same amount of time {one year}. while i know i'll be missing them tons over the next year, i'm so excited for their new adventures and endeavors. and, to visit! :)
