bistro cacao

06 September 2011

on saturday morning, after throwing a fairly successfully shindig at our place on friday night to celebrate two of my best friends moving away, a birthday, and the end of summer, kasi and i decided to head out for some brunch in our neighborhood.  times like these were few and far between this summer because we usually had some big brunch plan or were out of town most of the time.  despite getting stuck in a short rain storm, we stopped in to bistro cacao on pennsylvania.  we were actually in the mood for bagels, but after walking by their attractive and luring patio area that looked like it was transported directly from europe, we quickly changed our minds.

{i do wish however, that i chose to take off the smudged makeup from the night before and worn a dress without a whole in it, but hey.}

huge square umbrellas created a lovely canopy that covered the entire patio area from the light drizzle.  we sipped coffee, sat in comfortable chestnut brown wicker chairs, and ate an indulgent breakfast of steak and eggs, fresh fruit, a huge mediterranean salad with hearts of palm and a honey vinegarette, toast, and roasted potatoes.  kasi ordered the steak and eggs {that's right -- my vegetarian boyfriend ordered the steak!  he's having a change of heart:)}, i ordered the salad, and halfway through we switched plates.  each entree came with two sides for just $16 on their prix fixe brunch menu.

it was a great way to recharge our batteries together after a highly social, and super late night.  i'm looking forward to more weekends like this come fall.
