Everyone always makes a huge fuss about it: who are they going to kiss, what new shoes are they going to wear, how skinny will they look after all those Christmas cookies, and where will the party of the year {literally} take place {because it has to be super duper wonderful and amazing and basically the best party ever, right? EH--Wrong!}Here is Glamour's Sex, Love, Life Blog suggestions for having a great New Year's this year:
+ Make plans early.
Scrambling to assemble concrete plans last-minute is nothing but stressful.
+ Host a potluck dinner.
Not sure about this one. While I think it's definitely a great idea, most of the people {at least that I know personally} in my age range of younger to mid 20s feel the vibe to head out and party, not entertain people with dinner. However, this is a great idea to skip dinner rezzys and have a frugal pre-party {pre-game} to your night out!
+ Know your transportation.
Don't get stuck trying to catch the last train back to your place because all of the cabbies are too full {this happened to me last year}.
+ Lower your expectations.
***DINGDINGDING! This is the biggest suggestion/outlook I am giving to you this New Years. Without the huge expectation, you most likely will not be disappointed and left feeling like the beginning of this super new year of your life was a huge flop.
+ Send New Year's Happy Wishes.
Even if people don't send them to you, it'll make you feel good to be the more gracious one in sending them out to loved ones :)
+ Glam up with a new beauty treat.
Remember to try this new beauty tip out prior to the moment you are actually getting ready to head out {just in case you don't end up liking it in the end}.
+ Pack an emergency kit in your purse.
Two words: bobby pins.
+ Go for a sparkly top.
What you wear and how comfortable you are in it, has a direct affect on how you're feeling and your mood. Wearing something fun and flirty can help you project a better, and more fun attitude.
+ Leave your brand-new party shoes at home.
Blisters are not fun, especially on this super big night out.
+ Eat something!
You don't want to be the too tipsied girl in the corner drinking seltzer water before the ball even drops.
+ Drink water.
Hydrate! Your body will thank you for it.
+ Decide NOT to kiss anyone at midnight.
Who needs that pressure {directly paired with disappointed}? This was my idea last year, and to my {very pleasant} surprise, I ended up kissing {and even dating...} someone at midnight :)
+ Keep the party going until the morning.
Sometimes the after party is more fun than the actual party ;)
Whatever you do, be safe {and smart}!
My boyfriend and I will be making the trip up to snowy NYC for NYE tomorrow night. Pictures to come :)
